3 WAYS: WHITE(ISH)

1
Spring is officially here, which means, in the fashion world, layer it up with white on white on white. And that’s every spring, right? But it’s something I’ve never been able to do. I don’t really own enough bright white for a whole outfit and besides, hello real life (hello, dear toddler of mine). Although I did visit a Icelandic handbag designer the other day who pulled off the coolest all white look I ever did see with tucked in tailored white shirt, belted white jeans and little heeled brogues. But then she lives in a childless open plan

loft apartment with insane amounts of light and perfect antique finds. Hello, another life.

So, my take on white this SS14 is actually shades of white – and I’m loosely interpreting this from cream and ivory all the way to grey.

A bit more of a going-out look, and I’ve always wanted to tuck a slouchy, Flashdance style (but with unicorns!) t-shirt into a prim and proper skirt. Ok, I admit, I’m not sure how pristine this great expanse of ivory would stay on a day or evening out, child or no child but gosh, it feels quite luxurious to

I think this is actually my favourite look of the three, even though it’s more on the grey side of things. Silky 1940s high-waisted wide-legged trousers have been a complete revelation to me this spring and an absolute basic in anyone’s wardrobe (especially if you’re trying the Five Piece French Wardrobe like I am right now). High waists means you can work the SS14 trend of cropped tops no problem, and layered in in another shade of white, well, grey is a cute

little camera style bag for all your essentials. Comfy, clompy heels as ever.

Here I’ve taken what really should be a spring staple, a mohair T-shirt in cream and layered over a cropped grey tee and paired with jeans of the moment, ripped boyfriends. Such an easy, day-to-day look and I even dug out last year’s Swedish Hasbeen clogs because they’re kind of classics now and still one of the best heels for chasing around toddlers.
