To My Little Man
You keep me up all night, you grab my face with those sharp claws you never allow me to trim no matter how ninja I try to be, you think me eating means it’s time for you to get attention, you never want to sleep in your cot, you fall asleep on me when I need to get stuff done, you squeal and wriggle, you no longer want mummy cuddles all day long, you poo in all the nice clothes I put on you and it seems like your first word will be DaDa.
But as I get ready to go back to work tomorrow I can’t help but feel sad at the thought of

not having to deal with these things all day long. You’ll never know how much I hate the thought of creeping out the front door before you wake and coming home after you’ve gone to bed. Spending time looking after other children and not you.
I know you will have fun with your nannies and they will love spending time with you and I know I have to work to give you the world. Know I will count down the hours until I get to go home.
