Are your friends great mums? Have you told them?

I am in the fortunate position where my husband praises my parenting on a regular basis, he tells me I’m a great mum all the time and I tell him too (because he is, in fact I think he could be the best dad ever… FACT). However praise in any other form has been pretty lacking and I’m not sure why… we tell our friends when they get a great hair cut, or buy great clothes or choose a great place to go for dinner but do we tell each other enough we are doing great in the grand scheme of mothering?

I’m a firm believer any mum is pretty awesome

because at the end of the day raising a human, as rewarding as it is, it isn’t easy so if you’re doing it and surviving you must be doing a pretty good job. I think praise from a fellow ‘peer’ is one of the nicest compliments you can receive (and give) because ‘they know’, they know how hard it is, how rewarding it is, how challenging it is, how heart wrenching it can be and how you would do absolutely anything for your children and all you want is to try and do the best job you can not to mess it up.

I regularly tell my friends I think

they are amazing mums, especially in the early days (I think you need to hear it then), one of my best friends had her first baby in December and I made sure I told her “just in case no-one has told you, you are doing an amazing job and should be very proud of yourself” she said “my husband tells me that…” babies can make couples stronger but they should also make friendships stronger.

When was the last time you said “wow you are a great mum” spread the love people
