Big screen locations for your wanderlist

1
A chance to escape and put down the pressures of everyday life for an hour or two, there’s nothing quite like being swept off our feet by a movie. Whilst of course there are many elements that are all equally important to making a blockbuster, it’s also no secret that location, location, location is everything.

Here’s my top 3 big screen locations that simply need to be on everyone’s wanderlust list, for 3 very different reasons.

Best for…iconic scenes
Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts – Jaws

An island sitting in the Atlantic,

just south of Cape Cod, Martha’s vineyard encompasses harbour towns, lighthouses, sandy beaches and farmland. Location of the iconic film, Jaws, it is accessible only by boat or air. On the eastern end is the ferry port and commercial centre whilst just a short drive away is Oak Bluffs with an iconic carousel, thought to be the oldest working carousel in America. Best for…action packed re-enactments
Tabernas Desert, Almeria, Spain – A fistful of dollars

The relentless heat and barren desert of Almeria has served as the perfect set for many smash hit movies over the years. War time classics, fantasy adventures and story’s from the wild wild west have left

their mark. The standout for me has to be Clint Eastwood’s ‘man with no name’. Having visited the set myself many years ago, I recall the thrilling re-enactments taking place in the dusty roads with well-staged scuffles and the town hero riding in on his trusty horse. The set remains in tact and can get very busy in high season, so worth visiting early in the morning before it gets too crowded and before the sun gets too high! Coastal resorts are within easy reach, they remain typically Spanish with a fabulously Mediterranean feel. An ancient
