Dear Daughter…

1
Dear Daughter, don’t grow too fast.
Cry for your milk. Wake me in the night. Make me grumble and stumble to come save you from the dark. Fall asleep in my arms as I stroke your cheek. Feel my heart beating for you.
Dear Daughter, don’t grow too fast.
Play with Barbie dolls and pony’s. Not video games and ipads. Come sit with me. Let’s be dragons and princesses. Play tickle time and dress up. Try on my shoes and wobble around. Brush my hair and paint it in glitter. Snuggle on my knee and settle for a nap. Convince me you’re not tired.

My little dolly will turn into a teenager and I’m not ready for that. Dance on my toes and we’ll spin round in circles, dizzy, belly’s full of laughter. Let’s play fairy forest in the garden. Let’s climb the Faraway Tree. What strange land will we find today?
Dear Daughter, don’t grow too fast.
Let’s have trips to the swings and girls nights in. Let’s paint our nails and make face packs from potions. Let’s go shopping for sparkly dresses and pretty bows. Say ’I don’t remember’ when I ask about your

school day. I’ll catch you out with my clever questions. I’m slowly getting the hang of it, I think.
Dear Daughter, what comes next?
I can’t keep up with your everyday changing. You’re a contradiction. Tough but soft. Strong but dainty. Loud but thoughtful. A fireball of energy who loves peaceful moments. I clutch at the memory of your newborn skin and relish in your everyday milestones.
As you grow, I grow with you.

Rebecca Whitmore, born in Chester, Cheshire, is a mother, wife and business owner with the award winning company Travel Counsellors. Rebecca is obsessed with creating perfect holidays to fit her clients needs and has had the pleasure of helping thousands of people create wonderful lifelong memories. Rebecca has spent years dedicating her time to learning her trade and is well travelled herself after working and living abroad. The many happy memories she has created on her own holidays are her driving force for wanting to bring this same experience to her clients. She has excellent connections with major hotel brands, airlines, cruise lines and direct contracts with in-resort tour operators. This, as well as the ground breaking software she works with, means she can create every possible itinerary her clients may wish for. In her personal life Rebecca is sociable and enjoyable to be with. She likes walks along the River Dee (stopping for a spot of lunch of course), old movies, and playing in the garden with her family. She is fiercely passionate that no matter how busy life can get, we can all achieve our dreams. To discuss your travel plans, destination inspiration and general wanderlust wishes you can contact Rebecca on rebecca.whitmore@travelcounsellors.com or 01244 490 005
