I’ve always been one for comfort when it comes to clothes, but pre motherhood I did have a bit of a thing for heels. You know, the high, tottery, we-have-got-to-get-a-cab type. These days, being able to swing my toddler up on my hip takes priority and heels are reserved for those very rare nights out sans baby.

Oh wow, New Balance 574s! How has it taken so long for these cuties to reach my wardrobe? I snapped these up in the New Year sales and I can’t say enough good things about them. Extreme comfort with super cool style, a little bit of height and in the right colours (brown, navy or red) are less I’m-out-for-a-run, more I’m confident AND comfy. Result.

I fell in love with these minimal lace ups because of their off-beat boho style, little did I know the soft laces and square chunky heel would mean they are a totally wearable, stompable pair of versatile heels. They look great with jeans and dresses. Here, I’ve teamed them with a silky number for a wedding; added height essential for a flowing style like this, but still steady on my feet for dancing, toddler hauling et al. A total wardrobe
