For my Girl..

So, tonight is the eve of my gorgeous Eve’s 1st Birthday. Despite being nearly dead on her feet after arriving home from nursery earlier on, she’s currently showing blatant disregard for bedtime and is covered in chocolate from a Cadbury’s Lui biscuit I ’shared’ with her. (See also: gave up for my Child after much shouting and trying to climb up my legs to get to said biscuit)

My girl is about to turn 1. Where have the last 12 months gone?!

I can vividly remember the night before her ’birth’ day, watching Boardwalk Empire whilst getting

booted about inside my tummy – feeling fed up at having gone 4 days over my due date. I know that tomorrow morning I will instantly remember the feeling of contractions and being sat in my kitchen thinking ’o-er, is this it?’

At 3.35pm tomorrow I will have a good ol’ cry as I go back to the moment she was born, and will probably follow that cry with a sigh of relief that I won’t be going through that level of pain again anytime soon.

I’ve spent the last hour+ looking through photos of Eve from ’minute 1’ to ’now’, getting myself awful

emotional in the process (which doesn’t take much to be fair).  To add to my general E-Mo state, my youngest sister (and Godmother to Mini Me) sent over this link this evening.

I’ve read it over & over again.

Each time a different ’point’ stands out more than the others BUT all of them are absolutely true and have made me think about our ’responsibility’ as Mothers of Girls. We are the role models for the Women of the future and our girls will learn by the example we give and the behaviour we show. My goal is to ensure Eve understands

the importance of having respect for, and belief in, herself.

Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl – I hope you know what a gift you are & always will be x

PS: Mums, I’d love to know what you want most for your daughters (and sons!) – what is the one thing you hope they learn from you for their futures?
