As you maybe know, this week is Mental Health Awareness Week. I recently became a mum to a lovely little boy. I can admit this now, but I struggled to find my feet at the beginning. I don’t think this was helped by my perfectionist/ control freak tendencies. I suffered with anxiety. I felt so much responsibility weighing down on my shoulders for this tiny, fragile human and it wasn’t easy for me to talk about it. hopefully become easier with time. Which they absolutely did. It might be a very obvious thing to say, but becoming a mum is a completely life-altering event and just like everything, I realised that I would eventually find my own way of doing things. I just needed to breathe, try and relax and most importantly treasure this amazing time.
I wanted to write this post as I believe it’s vital to speak up if you think you might need some help. Doing so doesn’t make you weak. I personally think it takes a strong person to admit it when they’re not

feeling 100% and talking definitely helps. It’s easy to put on a brave face. I know I’ve done it many times in my life, but speaking to someone (a friend, a relative, a partner or your Dr) is taking a step in the right direction.
A healthy mind is just as important as healthy body.
