I like to be quiet…OK?

1
The sound of silence…something a mother of two doesn’t hear much.

Whether it’s Peppa Pig, the constant calling of “mummy “or the noisy toys that seemed like a good idea at the time. Silence normally is something that raises suspicion, “I can’t hear them, what are they up too?”

When Cassi is napping and CC is at nursery, I sometimes like to sit in silence and watch the world go by out the window. It’s these sorts of moments that help me reground and reset but what do you do if the silence is just in your

In the past  I  feel tired and have had a cloudy mind and this week my mind is now not cloudy but just empty. I seem to have lost all thought and it’s odd for me as I often over analysis, over think and then repeat, a hundred times a day. I just don’t feel like talking and I just don’t have much to say.

This does happen from time to time, it’s like I need a brain clear out, a system check up or an update refresh. I am here but mind has shut down for a day or two and I can do only the basic commands, eat, sleep,

repeat.

This period drives my husband mad as am so quiet he worries something is wrong and I am not talking about it but honestly I am contently resetting and for once I don’t actually have anything on my mind.

My work mates have mentioned they notice I have times where I don’t engage with them but they also said they knew this is something I did from time to time and didn’t take any offence as it was normally only one shift and I seemed like I had something on my mind, I really don’t though. I find these moments calming, it’s a small window where I don’t over think and feel unusually relaxed. A little holiday for my mind before its go go go again.

So if you notice me quietly sitting and I don’t engage with you, I am not annoyed, stressed or worried. I am just rebooting getting ready for the next phase of the life of MumForce.

Gail aka Mumforce, is a Scottish lifestyle / parenting blogger and a mum of two, based in Edinburgh. After giving birth to 2 little darlings Gail focussed some attention towards rediscovering/discovering herself. Being a daughter, sister, friend, wife and mother can take a lot out of the best of us. Whilst in amongst/ dealing with all the unpredictability’s in life it’s an easy thing to go into pilot mode/ forget to catch your breath and although bringing up another human being is arguably one of the most difficult challenges a human can be blessed with – “it can often be the case the we want more in respect to purpose, something that is just me”. Gail is open about her mental health and hopes that through writing, honestly about her experiences she can allow others to open up and no longer feel alone. As well as talking/writing about her struggles with mental health, Gail blogs about daily life, women’s rights and issues that some are afraid to address. Throw in a few family outing reviews, product reviews and mum fashion and we have a very mixed bag which truly represents the addictive randomness that is Mumforce. To begin with Gail found writing as a form of therapy and a hobby however through her literacy journey Gail’s lifelong pursuit of seeking acceptance has been redefined – “ I finally understood that it was self acceptance that was being sought and have since embraced every ounce of human emotion and solidified its presence through my words”. A unique character who we can all relate to who gives a fantastic reflection of the main battle we have in life, “the person staring back at me in the mirror”.
