I wanna be like you oo oo

Our babies learn everything from us, their mummy’s. We teach them how to feed themselves, how to clap, how to walk. And there is no prouder moment than when your baby does those things you have been trying to teach them so patiently for months. They want to walk like mummy, eat the same foods as mummy and sing songs and dance like mummy (maybe I’m pushing the boat out with those last two).

But I think there is a lot we could do to be more like our babies and in doing so, be much happier human beings. I envy my daughter, the total innocence and

purity. The complete carelessness for the five thousand toys on the floor or for the avocado smeared across her forehead. Now I’m almost certain I will not gain my purity back (sigh) but maybe I could be a little more non-caring, maybe, dare I say it, a little less uptight (!!!!) so in true mother style, I made a list;

Things to do to be more like my baby.

1. Show affection to the ones you love.
Now, I know I’m not the only one (because my mum does it too) but I’m not up for a cuddle. Ever. I’m not a cuddly person, nor am I a fan of PDA’s. My

boyfriend on the other hand LOVES a cuddle (sorry if you’re reading this, but you know it’s true!) Now if my baby girl likes you, she’ll give you a cuddle, she’ll let you kiss her ridiculously chubby cheeks and giggle while you do it. And the reaction to this is priceless. Maybe if we were all a little bit more affectionate, the ones we love would be just a little bit more aware of how much exactly we love them. Especially if they’re the cuddly type.

2. Crying
I genuinely believe holding in tears is bad for you. Sometimes you just gotta let it

out

3.Sleeping when we need to. Even at 2pm.
I’m probably saying this out of pure lack of sleep but come on guys, adults need sleep too right? Naps at work? Anyone?

4. Be honest about being hungry
The amount of times I’ve been sat in a meeting with a load of people and a plate of biscuits, stomach rumbling, mouth drooling, staring at the biscuits, never taking one. What if they think I’m greedy? They don’t know I missed breakfast. What if I choke on it and the bourbon comes flying out my mouth into my directors head? We’re too polite. Take

a biscuit! Take two. I know a little person that would…

5. Farts happen, and they’re funny.
I think you begin to learn this even before your baby is born. (If you went to prenatal yoga then yes I’m talking to you!)

I try and teach my baby girl everything I can, she has no idea that she is teaching me so much in return. Whether it be that she loves me and cuddles are the best way to show it or that farts are, in fact, incredibly funny.
