My daughter is at the age where she is trying new things, without my help, and on a daily basis she declaires to me “Mummy, I can’t do it!”….to which my reply is always, “yes you can darlin’, you just need to learn how”. I have always been of the firm belief that no one person is more intelligent than the other, but we chose to learn different skills and when you learn about something that interests you, you thrive. decision not to be second best, and for my daughter not also not be second best. As it turns out, we were already pretty good at running a solo parent routine but we were about to do it for real, psychologically the environment had changed and personally I was dealing with a whole load of emotions and changes that I hadn’t been prepared for, and realised very quickly just how amazing my friends and family were!!
I knew what I had to do, and bit by bit I realised the changes I had to make. I didn’t know how to make all of those changes but with the

power of Google, and great advice from our loved ones, I LEARNT how to make those life changes. I’d never sold a house, I’d never applied for government financial support, I don’t know what my ‘rights’ are as a parent, I’d never arranged life insurance, or a Will, but I learnt the lot. I got my financial house in order and ensured we were surrounded by people who loved and cared for us unconditionally and without conflict or question. We moved 100 miles away, settled into new surroundings, arranged a new amazing nursery, solicitors,

documents, and fitted it all around my ability to work as many hours as possible to keep the money coming in, which would now involve a 4hr round trip every day up and down the M4.
Some days are good and some days are bad, but we learn from the bad days and write them off to some extent, that’s how we appreciate the good days. I’ve never felt more proud to be a woman and empowered to achieve my goals. I feel so proud when I walk down the street with my little girl knowing we’re both happy, healthy, and stable. I don’t feel ashamed of being a
