Avoiding Mum Loneliness…

1
My biggest fear about being a second time mum wasn’t the impending fear of not loving the second child as much as the first, but was instead the loneliness! I can’t even described the loneliness I felt with my first child (Olivia). Ok yes I had my mum, and my husband but they couldn’t fill that void… the void that maybe mummy friends could fill?

Roll on 4 years…. Welcome to the world Noah.

So that impending feeling started to build again…. Oh gosh what was I to do? Baby groups, NCT, soft play etc.

Whilst Noah napped (yay) I was

flicking through Facebook(for the 20th time in 20 minutes) something appeared, something that could change this impending doom of loneliness…. Mush. Mush is described as the new app which connects local, like-minded mums (because its way more fun when we do this together). Interesting…

Ok so slightly sceptical, people think I am very confident. Yes I tend to mask my shyness with laughter and jokes. So I downloaded what’s described as ’Tinder for mums’ (intrigued, as being married and in a relationship for 10 years I never got the privilege

of trying out said app).

App downloaded, and scrolling through the many mums in my area, the beauty of the app is I can actually see how far a mum is (can’t really be travelling to Timbuktu and back), descriptions of mummies, and how many children they have etc.  I plucked up the courage and connected with a few mums, and even dared to send them a message (check me out), and actually got responses from some of them.

To cut a long story short, I no longer have that impending doom feeling hovering over me, because I have no time to dwell over

that, because I have mummy friends, yes friends plural! I have made at least 6 close friends via the Mush app. I kid you not – we see each other that much that the babies now recognise each other!

Mush has allowed me to enjoy this maternity leave so much more then I could have even imagined, making maternity leave go much quicker that I want! I want to shout from the rooftops-ok maybe from a café or two ’Mummies/Mummies To  download This the app.-
