Mum of two?!
I knock on her door with a reluctant hand
’Perfect mum’ of two walks out with her shiny designer pram
Her hair well maintained
Her clothes look clean
Mine was barely brushed
And on my leggings – a blob of last night’s sneaky ice cream
We get walking…
We get small – talking… .
She asks: ”So your still carrying him around then?”
Well yea, I am – he really hates the pram
”My babies LOVE the buggy- just get moving and they are both as quiet as a lamb”
”Does he go in his cot yet? my Danny is

sleeping through”
No he’s happy in my bed.. I’ll breastfeed him and then he rests his head (in my armpit)
The conversation continues…
”Will you have another baby?”
”You should do it. I luurve being a mum of two- it’s been going SO smoothly!”
”The toddler, age just two, has even potty trained and uses the Loo”
Meanwhile, my son is hanging off my leg
He’s acting all crazy and I’m just counting down the hours til he’s in bed
I do often get jealous of ’perfect mum’
Has all her shit together

perfect hair bun
I have to remind myself that this is one day of many
Perhaps behind closed doors she’s as frazzled as any other
The snuggles don’t last long you see
Soon he will reject the sling and decide he wants to run free
Will I cope with two? Let’s wait and see
But, for now…
You do you and I’ll do me
