…Poor me…I deserve a shopping trip.

I was thinking to myself last night, the 10th night my husband has been away working, how much I love my children….mostly these reflections come when they are either at school or in bed.
Now I know that there are a lot of people who parent singularly, and not by choice, and I totally take my hat off to them because at least my husband comes home, eventually. I have light at the end of the tunnel and it’s lovely to see him.
Having said that, when he does come home, he is exhausted and we prowl around each other for at least 24 hours before we can

actually communicate as human beings. He then needs as much looking after as the children and I’m in limbo trying to do the things I normally do when he isn’t here and my rules go! The house is messier and the pile of washing is bigger. He even watches television during the day, something I feel guilty for as a hangover from my parents banning it…except for the two weeks of Wimbledon! Having made the house messier and complicating the rules, he is off again – earning us money, damn him. So next month I’m taking a few days out so his rules stick for

a bit longer; a few girlfriends and I are going shopping in the souks of Marrakech with (get me) a personal shopper!! This will not only be very efficient but mean I will get more time to hang out with the girls for cocktails by the bar, have massages and be scrubbed in the hammam. I found this little place just outside the dusty city called Fawakay Villas where we all stayed this summer and the kids loved it. This time I return for me…it’s currently running a great shopping offer, just in case you deserve a shopping trip too!
