RIP Career: Motherhood and work don’t mix, apparently

3 months left of maternity leave
I got the news one dreads to receive.
I was redundant, given the heave.
First it seemed like a happy reprieve,
Now I see that was really naive.
I can’t make new employers perceive
I can work just as well as conceive.
Never been one to under achieve,
Now, I’m sadly career bereaved
