I wrote a feature for Stella Magazine the other day about the middle-class phenomenon of ‘overparenting’ and how we should all chill out a little.

Read it here!

I thought the reaction was going to be ‘Marmite’…  but instead I’ve been overwhelmed by positive comments. I thought I’d share some of them as it seems I’m not the only one who wants to relax about how we bring up our kids.

(I didn’t even make any of these up…)

One of the most sensible articles on modern child care that I have read. Should be required reading for all new mums.

Great article Molly Gunn – – as a first time Mum I observed my friends that had taken then leap before me the most chilled out happy babies seemed to be the ones who had parents that were relaxed and also integrated the kids into their lives not changed their lives to focus on the kids. We have chosen to buck the current trend and do the same – Ive just come home from a trip to Scotland where the comment on repeat was that Finlay is so chilled and happy – so any residual guilt I felt from the Health Visitors judgemental comments about my return to work, stopping breast feeding and lack of “child centric activities” has completely vanished – happy Mum = Happy baby. The End.

Well written and so true…. just off to cancel rugby, karate, drama, swimming, climbing and extra latin.

Interesting article Molly  Must say as a new mum that those I have met who are more chilled and don’t follow some rulebook seem to also have more chilled happy babies too. We do swimming, but both of us love that, and everything else we do is about enjoying the fresh air and company of friends which is much healthier than forced ‘educational fun’

This is bloody brilliant! Agree with every word.

@Molly_Gunn are we a nation of over-parenters – one if the best articles i have read in years… I have even found a scissors and cut it out

@Molly_Gunn Hi Molly, really liked your Stella piece. I know a LOT of little emperors with enslaved mothers!

@Molly_Gunn, read your article in @StellaMagazine and it really struck a chord with me. You’re not a selfish mother, you’re a realist!

@Molly_Gunn just read your Stella article…Absolutely inspired! Finally I look forward & see I can have a career, relationship, sex & kids!

Brilliant article! Thanks @Molly_Gunn Overparenting? Overthinking? I believe in following your instinct not the crowd

@Molly_Gunn fab article in @StellaMagazine yesterday. It’s been fuelling lots of discussion in the office today both with mums & non mums

A nation of over-parenters? via @Telegraph http://fw.to/ypsAgvW  hallejulah @Molly_Gunn great article

@StellaMagazine @Molly_Gunn great piece Molly! Lots of good points and yes, the baby group thing is out if hand.

A mum? Fed up with boring baby groups or putting yourself last? READ this: @Molly_Gunn in @StellaMagazine http://bit.ly/193VYc2

@Molly_Gunn I LOVE THIS. and while Im not yet a parent (and therefore not entitled to an opinion!) I wholeheartedly agree.

Great article by @Molly_Gunn in today’s @telegraph Stella magazine on parenting. I agree with every word she says!

Just read it. So sensible. My baby now 20 but just the same when she was little. School gates a nightmare.

Reading it has made me realise I’m a bit guilty. Might schedule nothing fun this weekend 😉 @StellaMagazine @Molly_Gunn
