Small Steps Over None

Ain’t no one with less time for themselves than a parent of particularly young kids!

If there are things which just seem to be forever outside your grasp, this post may cause you to realise that some of those are actually within your reach.

It’s so simple, it might be called ‘Cheats Guide To Making Anything Happen’; alternatively, it’s SMALL STEPS OVER NONE.

Question: How many times do you do NO-thing because you can’t do ALL of the thing or the conditions in which you told yourself you would do ‘the thing’, don’t present

Yeah, I’ve done it too!

It’s so easy to look at other peoples lives and assume that what we admire about them must be a personality trait rather than a skill.  The opposite is more often the case.

People who seem to be making life happen, have often hooked on to the idea that small progress is better than none!

When we unknowingly avoid a thing, it’s because some part of the anticipated action or experience is meeting resistance within us at the level of the mind.

that the big deal is a big deal is inside our head.

Whilst it may be the case that we’re subconsciously procrastinating, sometimes we’re simply shooting too high or looking for too many ducks in a row.  The alternative approach is to train our mind to be open to taking small incremental steps.

In order to do that we must be attuned to recognising the stories the mind tells.

How do we override the mind?
Once we know that the mind’s main purpose is to help us survive, we see that our resistances are simply a subconscious defense

response.  We absolutely have the power to control our airwaves and to tune into the channel of possibility, one decision at a time, so:

• “I just don’t have the time to work on my idea” becomes “I can do half an hour on it today”.

• “I can’t take a tech break” entertains “I can have an evening a week without it”.

•  “I never stick to regular exercise, I’ve given up trying” becomes “how can I move today?”

•  “I could never be a veggie” might become “I’m going to try one meal a week without

meat”.

•  “I’m not an eco-warrior type, we recycle – that’s enough” is open to “let’s see what other simple swaps we can make in favor of sustainability”.

•  “I never have time to read”, says “I can do 5 pages”.

•   “Such a busy week… when am I going to get the house ready for people coming at the weekend?” can also look like “I don’t have to do it all in one go, what could I do on nights leading up to the weekend?
