THE QUESTIONS YOU GET ASKED AS A TWIN MUMMY

Unlike my husband who loves stopping and chatting to people cooing at our girl / boy non-identical twins, it used to drive me crazy. Looking back it was probably because I was exhausted but at the time I didn’t see it from that perspective as i was in the moment – that moment being a breastfeeding mum of three under two!  It used to really bug me when total strangers actually stepped in front of my pram or even grabbed hold of it while I was trying to run errands in the 20 minute window while they were sleeping. Now I don’t want to sound ungrateful and many of you may think I should be thrilled people take the time to stop. To those people I say don’t read on. For the rest of you, here are just a few of the things that sprang to my mind after the repetition began. Some I said and the rest i either thought or shared with my other twin mummies who understood completely!….

Are they identical? 
– Yes apart from one has a penis and is dressed in blue
and the other is a girl.

Are they twins? 

– No triplets. We left the ugly one at home.

Were they natural? 
– Were yours?
– One is, the other is a clone.

You’ve got you hands full!
– You should see my heart!

Do you regret having twins?
– Do you regret that question?

Do twins run in your family?
– Not yet they can barely crawl.

I am glad they are yours not mine!
– They are too.

How do you manage?
– I live for 7pm

You’ve got your hands full. 
– I would rather they were full than empty!

Having twins is an amazing journey but it’s bloody hard work.
There are always days when it seems like an uphill struggle
but there are also the days when your heart swells and your eyes fill up
as your son say’s ‘your my darling mummy’ or one
of the twins strokes the other one after hitting him in the head with a building block

Keep being amazing all you mothers and fathers out there – whether you are covered in sick, food, snot or poo you are amazing.
For all you parents of multiples – high five! Keep being you, that’s more than enough 🙂

I am a working mother of 3. Jasper is nearly 4 now and my twins Charlie and Aryella are nearly two - where does the time go?!! We Live in a little hamlet in the countryside called Pott Shrigley which is in the UK. Having been a designer and buyer for my entire career launching KeriKit on my maternity leave seemed a logical solution at the time! I wanted to be able to see my children grow up but I also wanted to be doing something to keep my mind active and also to keep me sane! In hindsight I am not sure launching a business with three under 2 was the right path to keeping me sane but there we have it! KeriKit launched on my birthday September 1st 2014 and I have to admit I am really proud of what we have achieved so far. Its VERY hard work but also VERY rewarding and I know I have made the right decision when I get to take my children to swimming lessons in the mornings, watch them dance with their hula hoops at mini music and see Jasper playing Rugby tots each week. My family are my life and I feel so blessed to have them xx
