Back to school today, my heart breaks a little as you run, to greet your friends. A whole summer of adventures to catch up on, you turn around to me and say, it’s ok you can go now mum.
Back to school again, I stand and smile but feel like crying, inside I’m dying. It feels like only yesterday I was sitting in softplay, laughing with the other mums about much we were looking forward to today.
I smiled and knew, despite the summer madness, that it wasn’t really true.
Back to school it’s here, does this really have to happen every single

year? You, this morning so excited, just a little fear. Me and a million others shed a tear, as we wish you were near. I want to can grab a hug, but simply shrug and note, the air is cooler now, when I get home I need to find your coat.
Back to school I go first day back I simply can’t be late, so I run and find my place beside the gate, and wait. I see you and you run to me, with a smile, from your class you flee, giggling now the day is done and you are free.
I missed you, and I wonder have you been missing me? Of course you have, now
