My baby, my rules!

I’m sure I’m not alone in this and Grandparents! You’re getting a big old naughty finger wagged in your direction here because it’s mainly you lot im talking about!

Giving advice that’s not needed or asked for, giving kids silly amounts of treats (for nothing!) not telling them off when they’re swinging off the table cloth.

When I was younger and trying all the tricks the grandkids do now I’d of got a smacked hand yet little lovely Freddy (not my child’s name) there gets a biscuit to keep him distracted?! How does that work! Praise for

naughtiness? Then we have to take them home and implement more discipline than usual because of their wild afternoon around grannies doing what they want!

You’re making this parenting stuff so much more difficult!

My mam a few weeks back said ’oh look’ when my son was pouring his drink over him self. ’Oh look’?! Bloody tell him to stop!  These little treasures of ours are frigging cute but they know it! They know who to play and know nanna won’t tell them off or they know exactly where Grandad’s sweet stash is.

I am a bit of a meany when

it comes to my kid having sweets, i just don’t by them. Ill knock up some banana muffins or give him a fruit salad, but when I go to my nannas and he’s on his second bag of crisps before lunch, it’s just unnecessary! Ask me or his dad if it’s ok for him to have something!

My Mam says I’m mean because late activities are just a no go for us unless it’s a super special occasion. Talking recently about Bonfire night and when I said all the local firework displays were on too late (between 7/8pm) her response was ’poor kid, you don’t let him do

anything’ my kid is in bed for 7pm, 6 o’clock his eye start sinking because he hasn’t stopped all day, so dragging him out in the cold past his bed time just isn’t appealing to me in the slightest. I very much doubt she’d enjoy taking him out when he’s tired and crabby.

Then theres the ’I done that when you lot were kids’, ’we didn’t have all this when you were his age’ ’what do you mean he can’t have a cup of coffee, you drink it’

I grew this child, I birthed this child so my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles listen when I say
