Why I’m not making New Years resolutions

So here we are on the morning of 31st in 2018, I have paw patrol on the tv and lego building in the other room and whilst having a coffee (3rd of the day so far) I take a quick scroll through my social media accounts and the gram is full of reflection and resolution. Now I’m not saying that either of these are a bad thing in fact over the next week I will being the mammoth task of uploading all last years pictures to make our photo book of 2018, which our boys love looking through and we treasure the memories. But I am lacking the compelling feeling to

grab my pen and note book and list things which I am going to do or change this year as I know I will not achieve them and many of us will be familiar with SMART goals yet resolutions tend to be so unrealistic and unachievable. So come the end of January I will feel even more deflated and unhappy because I will not have achieved anything in the most barren month of the year.
We will have a small list of things which we and the boys would like to do this year. We are currently in the middle of building an extension so this was not difficult. We already

have our summer holiday booked, a trip to Harry Potter world and tickets to a book signing. We have had requests to visit the space centre and a dinosaur museum so we have things to look forward in 2019 but I have no lists of losing 10 pounds, being more active, doing this more and less of this. I know these things need to happen and I will slowly work on these one goal at a time to achieve the bigger goal throughout the year rather than all at once because I know this is a much more achievable way for me personally.

still eating my way through left over cheese and boxes of chocolates watching our 3rd film of the day because school isn’t back for another week that I do not have new trainers and gym gear waiting for my fresh start at the beginning of January! Wishing you all a very happy new year and hope 2019 is a good year for you.
